Being and Belonging: A Memoir in Poetry by Eva Live book cover

“Beautifully written poetry of a woman’s journey to freedom, wholeness, spirituality and ultimately, to herself. Helps us all touch these deep longings within ourselves.” — Natalie Matushenko, leadership coach and transformational teacher

There’s more for us humans.

When you truly love yourself from your own inner being, magical things can happen, as Eva Live discovered in her quest to unlock her real self and live authentically.

Though she’d always wanted to live a meaningful life, at the end of her marriage, Eva felt more lost than she’d ever been. It had been years since she had left behind her evangelical Christian religion with all its certainty about the answers to the big life questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my life for? And how do I maintain relationships without losing the essence of my own being?

Rather than attaching herself to yet another “solid rock” of certainty, Eva chose to allow mystery, to be present to shadow and to light, and to face her fears, wounds, and emotional baggage. Through her 3-year journey of inward surrender, she came to know intimately her own inner love, healed her trauma, and found herself.

In this powerful memoir told in poetry and narrative, Eva shares the story of how she came alive.

I let go of fantasy.
I’m here to create reality.
Fanning the spark of divinity
That flows through all humanity
To rise again in glory
Moving in and out of eternity.

I don’t want to talk about the weather
Our souls go on forever
Hear a siren call to connection
That goes beyond reflection
On the outer world
Or even what seems wrong

I don’t want to talk about the news
Fake news of massive disturbance
Turbulence
Doesn’t make up my life
I don’t take up the strife
I’m alive on the inside

Let’s talk human evolution
Let’s talk glory and execution
Of inner vision
Co-create our choice
Make new weather
And new news
For others to talk about

When I meet you
People say I should care
The name of your city
Or the variation between good and fine
You might say today
Why do I have to ask these?
When what I want to know is your energy?
Maybe meet the skin pores
Inside your elbows
On your back, hips, and knees
Now I’m meeting your humanity
Cause the skin on your arms
And the movement of your hips
Says more of who you are
Than the color of the sky today
I can’t just know you by your name.

When I look into your eyes
Divinity to Divinity
ME stares back at me
And I see you in beauty
Inside of glory
And the separate me
Forgot to be
And remembered infinity

* * *

What else is there to do?
But just say yes again
Knowing what I know and who I am
To just jump around in my skin
It’s like I was wired for movement
Carried by my own momentum

It’s easy to be true
When all around you is light
Bright, you’re lighter than air.

In emptiness
And fully enthralled in illusion
In the heaviness and the shadow
To hear your heart pound with life and scream it out
Your yes
Resounding in the dark
In the midst of your lonely cry
That’s me being me

* * *

What’s this bubble that’s going to pop?
Revealing all that lies inside
Chaos, empty rubble
Or a diamond, shining bright?
The fear that sometimes stares me in the eyes
Which is the illusion?
The inner light that sometimes shines so bright
Confounds the wise?
Or maybe I will find
This outer world for which most seek
Pulls the wool over my eyes

Of this to my soul I say,
All my bets are placed on you
Casino
I roll the dice
And win either way

If inner light in falseness shines
There is no purpose for my life
But if reality awaits
Within the opening of the gates
Of inner sight
My soul is going to take me there
To where
Oh where?
I don’t know where
Casino

Eva Live is an inner voice coach, teacher, and author of Being and Belonging: A Memoir in Poetry. She helps people move beyond their mind and access their inner world — a place of limitless wisdom, freedom, and love.

Raised as a fundamentalist evangelical Christian, she experienced an inner discord between her soul’s passion to live what’s real and the made-up constrictions of religion. After letting go of every external support in her life — family, religion, relationships, marriage — she dove way down into her inner being on a quest to belong. She discovered that she could tap into her own essence and connect with love, healing, and insights that empower her to live in a state of inner alignment and peace.

She frequently channels insights and wisdom from beyond the mind, and she shares her experiences through her blog and audio recordings.
